Nellie: A Life Worth Living

2004 | Documentary | Semi-Finalist

John “Nellie” Nelson has to be lifted out of bed with a crane. He can’t do anything for himself. He has to be fed, dressed, and taken to the bathroom with the help of someone else. And yet he is an assistant football coach at one of the most successful football programs in the country. Nellie is an emotionally charged story of commitment, acceptance, diversity, and ultimately the community of love that has grown up around this one man and the lives of hundreds of young people he serves. Once you’ve met Nellie, you’ll never forget him. It’s what love should be.
