Bring Me Hope

2005 | Documentary | Semi-Finalist

Treading wearily, a mother clings to a worn basket from which her baby softly cries. Torn with grief, the mother sets the basket near a gate. Glancing back, she hurries away, leaving her precious infant an orphan. In China, this scenario repeats itself daily. Poverty and a preference for boys have created millions of orphans — mostly girls. These children live their lives in orphanages, never knowing a family’s love.
