San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival to Feature World Premiere of Six-hour Director’s Cut of the Civil War Epic, ‘Gods and Generals’
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS March 29, 2004 Vision Forum Ministries is pleased to announce that, thanks to a special arrangement with director/producer Ron Maxwell, the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival (SAICFF) will feature the world premiere of the uncut directors version of the epic Civil War masterpiece, Gods and Generals. Though its success at the box office was limited, Gods and Generals has picked up an enormous independent following since its release in March of 2003 and the sale of DVDs has been strong.
The overt biblical and Christian themes communicated in Gods and Generals, through the magnificent portrayal of the life of men like Stonewall Jackson, served to inspire thousands and to once again open the discussion on such time-honored concepts as duty, honor, and biblical manhood, said Doug Phillips, president of Vision Forum. Fans of the film will have a special opportunity to see some phenomenal scenes that never made it to the theaters.
The six-hour film will be shown starting at 9:30 a.m. on November 11, 2004. Director Ron Maxwell is scheduled to be in attendance at the SAICFF to discuss the film and offer a directors workshop for students. The world premiere screening of Gods and Generals and the directors workshops are available to anyone who purchases a festival pass for admission to the film festival.
