SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS November 4, 2004 Vision Forum Ministries is pursuing a bold course at their upcoming San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival by singling out and showcasing the work of young filmmakers. The Film Festival and Jubilee Awards, which will be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio on November 11-13, will feature a special Young Filmmakers Track where the work of children, some as young as eight and eleven years old, will be shown.
We are pleased to be a part of several firsts: San Antonios first Christian Film Festival and the worlds first film festival that encourages children to engage in the art of filmmaking within the context of family relationships, explained Doug Phillips, president of Vision Forum Ministries.
Over the course of two days, seven separate film shorts will be shown as part of the Young Filmmakers Track all produced by filmmakers under twenty years of age. Three of the shorts center around Creation Science. The other four are narratives that vary in theme from the revival in the Southern Armies during the War Between the States, to Americas struggle for Independence from England under General George Washington.
From the outset, one of our primary goals in launching this festival has been to inspire dads and moms to get behind those children of theirs who have an interest in filmmaking; to come alongside them and to offer them guidance to make films as a family for the glory of God, noted Phillips. This aspiration is embodied in the film festival logo itself, which pictures a father, with one hand on his sons shoulder, even as he points across the horizon with his other hand to the spot where his son has focused his camera.
The San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival will be giving away a number of awards, including a $10,000 Grand Prize to the film short entry that wins Best of Festival as part of the Jubilee Awards presentation.
Festival passes are $125 for adults, $100 for students. Passes allow access to all the festival events. Space is limited. For more information on the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival and Jubilee Awards, please visit the festival Web site at: www.independentchristianfilms.com.
